Breastfeeding methods vary among mothers

There are multiple ways for tandem breastfeeding so you can do it according to your own preferences and the age of the babies.
In this section, we will introduce the two most common methods for breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding two children at the same time

You can breastfeed two children at the same time by letting each child suck on a breast. It is not as difficult as expected because the older child adjusts the positioning to latch on.

It is up to you to decide which breast each child sucks on. However, it is advised to let the baby feed on both breasts for better eyesight. Moreover, it will be easier because the older child won’t breastfeed so frequently so you can feed the baby from the other breast when one is asleep or away.

It is better to switch the babies from side to side because if you wish to avoid changes in your breast sizes. The reason is that the breast size changes depending on the baby’s need and both the babies require a different amount of milk. That is why it is advised to switch the side for babies.

Breastfeeding one child at a time

If the mother breastfeeds one child at a time, one of them has to wait while the other is being breastfed. It does, however, make it easier for the mother because she has to deal with them one by one. Older baby is focused on other things more while waiting for breastfeeding but it is important to breastfeed him considering the relationship of trust.
